Crew: Betsy M, Krissy S, Jason R, Andrew C, Austin C, Nate J Route/Highlights: Thursday: Motored out of marina at 11pm; anchored @ Quarry Bay, clear sky, light wind Friday: - Bacon & Egg breakfast. - Tied stern-to at Quarry Bay dock, placed 2nd anchor with dinghy/kayak. - Hiked Quarry Trail, swam at dock. - Sailed South of Stockton Island to balancing rock; kayaked - Nate climbed balancing rock. - Supper on the water, West of Outer Island. - Anchored at Outer Island sand spit, dark. Saturday: - Dinghy to shore (elec. motor); hung out at sand spit & shipwreck - Motored North to Outer Island lighthouse; anchored around noon, with very clear water in anchorage - Explored Outer Island lighthouse and dock - Afternoon swam at dock - Motored then sailed West to Devils Island.  Passed around-the-islands sailing racers (~30-40) heading East. - Kayaked Devils Island sea caves through sunset.  (Unsuccessful search for supposed anchorage North of Devil...

Crew:  Brian, Eric T, Jason R, Betsy M, Kate S, Matt H, Russell N Route, Highlights: Friday: - Before setting sail from Barker's Island Marina, Jason fixed faulty bilge pump - Sailed/motored from Superior, WI to Apostle Islands in light winds - Saw freighter shining searchlight all over (e.g. at us) NW of islands - Anchored S of Otter Is. @ ~1am in light N winds Saturday: - French toast breakfast - Rained all morning, 5 went to shore on Otter Is. - Left anchorage @ 4:30pm - Motored to E side of Stockton Is. through thick fog (accompanied ominously by Pirates of the Caribbean soundtrack). -  Arrived @ balancing rock @6pm, with thick fog.  Took 3 shifts kayaking. - Tacos! - Dusk, motored to anchroage @ Julian Bay, foggy. - Encountered a persistent moonbow to the East (thanks to  the fog) - @1-2am fog cleared, Northern lights display (faint arch/band across north, with fainter streaking above it) until beginnings of dawn . It's a cold winter this year, and people are touring the Apostle Island Lakeshore sea caves by foot.  Once Abbey Road sailor Betsy brought back some pictures [ more here! ]:      (Don't worry, spring is on its way.)

August 9-11, 2013 Crew: Brian, Janelle & Scott, Matt & Christine, Peter, Lori Route: - Sailed 1 tack to Rocky Is. - Stop at Devils Is Saturday, sailed N into open lake for a while - Saturday night anchorage on Raspberry Is. Hightlights: - Visited Bayfield Visitor Center, also V.C. on Stockton Is. - Kayaking around "balancing" rock(s) - first time for all - Stuck briefly on Outer Is. sand spit.  (!!)
