Sailing Sept 26-29, 2019
Crew: Brian L, Andrew C, Betsy M, Austin M, Kristen M, Noah C, Lori R, Kali L
Thursday:
- Abbey Road Beatles album 50th anniversary today(!)
- Close to departing marina late; stayed due to lack of dish soap
Friday:
- Breakfast Burritos @ marina slip
- Sailed to S side of Otter Island, C-dog (docked at Otter) radioed us asking for Bronte. (Thusly, the parrot became known as "Bronte".)
- BL+BM kayaked to shore and met C-dog owner, and his actual dog Lucy.
- Pork tenderloins and pasta salad dinner at anchorage
- Clear night skies, meteor shower
- AC+KL kayaked shoreline in the dark w/ headlamps ("creepy")
Saturday:
- Crew slept in, Breakfast burrito breakfast
- Motored to S end of Rocky Island
- AC+KM kayaked across to South Twin Island while the rest of the crew enjoyed shore & trails on Rocky. Some hiked to old fishing village.
- Motored to South Twin Island to pick up kayakers, then motored to Devils Island
- NC+AM+BL took kayaks & Abbey Road around to west side, where the rest had hiked across and met us.
- Picked up dinghy crew again on E side
- The rest took turns kayaking Devils Island sea caves, through sunset
- BM injured finger in ladder 😬 on return
- Sailed back to South Twin Island (dark)
- Listened to some lively radio chatter en route, something about "cookies"
- Anchored @ S-Twin for the night (first time BL anchored here, anchor held first try!)
- Tacos, Margaritas for dinner
- Cloudy night, listened to Abbey Road Beatles album (to commemorate 50th anniversary)
Sunday:
- Eggs, Bacon, Pancakes for breakfast
- Sailed back, through some rainy patches
- AC+AM put up top sail in the rain, because that is what one does.
- Bacon grease spill 😮
